York International was formed in 1985 through the merger of two local Westchester insurance agencies, Paul Krantz & Co. and Great Bay Brokerage.  At that time, York International placed approximately $12 Million in premium and generated about $1.4 Million in revenue.  York International was led by our current chairman, James Krantz, consisted of 10 employees and was located on Tuckahoe Road in Yonkers.  York International grew, in revenue and employee count, and in 1989 the office was relocated to a larger space at 1 Executive Boulevard in Yonkers, where we remained for 22 years. 

In 2010 York International celebrated its 25th anniversary and had annual revenues of about $11 Million.  In March of 2011, York International and its 42 employees relocated, taking a much larger space at 500 Mamaroneck Ave in Harrison, NY.  This time we anticipated the need for extra space as our new office has capacity for 65 employees.  Today we place in excess of $120 Million in premium, our annual revenue is about $12 Million and we experienced 6% growth over last year.  Over our 26 year history we have experienced an average compounded growth rate of over 9%.  Since 2000, our average compounded growth rate has been 12%. 

Additionally, York International has been recognized as the top Insurance Agency in the U.S. in two separate studies.  The Independent Agents and Brokers of America (www.IIABA.net) honored York International with their top award, naming us the #1 Agency in the U.S. in their Best Practices Study for 2010 & 2011.  MarshBerry (www.marshberry.com), a leading consulting firm specializing in the insurance agency industry, named York International as their PINnacle award winner in 2010, which recognizes the top insurance agency throughout MarshBerry’s entire database of over 200 agencies across the U.S.  Also in 2010, York International’s President, Michael Bodack,  was named to BCW’s 40 under 40 Rising Stars.  York International is proud of the past growth and industry recognition, but we know our best is yet to come.

York International continues to be a leader in Risk Management and Risk Mitigation.  The policies we place for Commercial Insurance are Property and Casualty,  Co Op Insurance and Condo Insurance.  In our Benefits department we place Individual Benefits and Group Benefits including Employee Benefits, Group Health Insurance, Group Health Dental, Life and Disability Insurance.  Personal Lines Insurance department handles the full range of insurance coverages including Automobile, Homeowners and Umbrellas, just to name a few.
